A month and a half until GREECE!

So here I am at home, just finished a day of work, and I can't help but dream of Greece in every spare second I have. I have so much excitement inside me, and I just can't wait for my adventures to begin. I recently booked my flight to Athens, which is incredibly exciting. I  can't believe how close it's getting. I also found out my roommate/college best friend Natalie and I have the same layover in Toronto before we both jet off for a wonderful semester in Europe (she's going to Barcelona and I'm going to Athens). It will be so nice to spend some time with her before we leave, even though it's guaranteed that we will be visiting each other!

Although I am super excited and counting down for Greece, it's still pretty stressful for me. I'm in the midst of applying for my student visa, which requires traveling to the Consulate in NYC. I also have to worry about packing! How I am going to pack my life in a duffel bag and backpack for 4-5 months is kind of beyond me right now.

Besides all of that, I am absolutely loving summer. It's been beautiful here in Conesus, NY, and I'm so grateful to have time to spend with my family and friends, whom I'm going to miss SO SO much while I'm in Greece.

I'm leaving you with a picture of the beautiful lake I live on. I'll make sure to update my progress with packing, visas, etc.

I'm going to....GREECE!

Okay so for those of you who don't know, my name is Sara. I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester studying Computer Science and Mathematics. I am studying abroad in Athens, Greece from September-December 2012 and am then traveling around Europe with my friend until the spring semester starts in late January. I am studying in Greece with a study abroad program called College Year in Athens, so I'll be taking classes at the Academic center and living in an apartment right in the city of Athens. The classes I've registered for are Modern Greek Language, Ancient Greek Mythology and Religion, Monuments in Greece and their Historical Significance, and Citizenship, Immigrants, and Nationalism in Europe. They all sound so interesting to me, and I can't wait to spend a semester living the culture of Greece, learning its history, seeing its beauty, and becoming one with the people. I truly feel so blessed to have this experience, and I can't wait for it to begin. I hope you all enjoy reading what I am doing in the coming months!
